Kappa Alpha in the Universitas Torontonensis Press Release

With the goal of spearheading VT's community  involvement, and raising awareness amongst freshmen members about the benefits of giving back to the community, current S+l, Alan Frasier, and S+l of olden times, Tim Peters, have launched a new initiative to support our Canadian soldiers and their families.

Today www.herofund.ca was launched to raise scholarship money for the children of fallen Canadian soldiers.

MissionStatement:
Canadian  Herofund.ca is a non-political, non-profit  organization.
Canadian Herofund.ca promotes the idea  that all Canadians should support our troops--regardless of whether you support the current policies of the Canadian government.
Canadian  Herofund.ca is an organization dedicated to assisting the  families of Canadian Armed Forces Personnel.
Our specific goal is to raise  money to help fund the post-secondary education of children who have had a  parent killed fighting for Canada.

We have a four-point primary initiative  to fulfill our objective:
1) Raise money through private & corporate  donations;
2) E-mail campaign to raise awareness;
3) Petition for at  least 100 000 signatures to be delivered to the Canadian Parliament, lobbying  for the passage of a bill allocating funds for this initiative;
4) Approach  university and college Presidents to pledge that their schools will provide  financial support.
With this four-point primary approach, we will raise the  money needed to assist the families of the men and women who have made the  ultimate sacrifice for Canada.
